Sustainable Practices
Here at WheelFood, sustainable practices are a key aspect of our company goals. We want to help build a future where the Earth can stay the beautiful place it is, and stay clean and healthy so farmers can continue to make their crops. To do this, we practice sustainability in various ways.
Farmers and Produce
Past blunders in agriculture have led to the damage of the Earth and the over-cultivation of certain crops. WheelFood strives to combat this by supporting farmers that practice sustainable farming practices. Before purchasing their produce, we ensure that our local farmers do not over-cultivate any crops, use crop rotations, and implement proper farming tools and methods, to optimize soil quality and the long-term health of the soil. Furthermore, we certify that our farmers do not use inorganic GMO crops, and do not overuse harmful pesticides and insecticides, which ensures that these farmers are protecting the environment and the quality of their produce. Through these policies, WheelFood is certain that our crops and farms can thrive and promote sustainability.
Packaging & Merchandise
The packaging for our seasonal bundles and produce boxes is also environmentally friendly. Our packages are made of 100% recyclable cardboard. Like our packaging, our merchandise, including WheelFood tote bags, beanies, and t-shirts, are made of 100% recycled material such as recycled cotton. Through this, we can further a sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
Our Trucks
Vehicles like cars and trucks are known for having a negative impact on the environment, especially because of the fuel sources they use and the pollutants they emit. To minimize this, WheelFood trucks are completely electric. These electric vehicles emit a minuscule amount of pollutants compared to current gas-powered cars, and they are powered by a sustainable energy source -- electricity.
